A simple one to start with; dead school girl. This is a classic if you're on a budget. I simply work a shirt, shorts and tights and ripped them to look undead, fake blood at the ready I covered myself and then to add a twist, using Spirt Gum, I stuck a opening zip to my face to look like my face was being unzipped. Simple but effective and cheap to do too!
Next is one of my favourite villains; Poison Ivy. This was easy to do too. I borrowed the tights from a friend and I also borrowed the red wig too. The rest of the outfit was got in a charity shop and decorated with the help from Hobby Craft. The key to rounding this off was the green eye makeup, bright red lips and the detailed green vines up my arm, neck and cheek. Again simple but very effective and cheap- plus I won best dressed at a party for this! Another super simple costume; a creepy doll. I put my hair in messy bunches, put on a blue pinafore dress and lots of black eyeliner! If you look closely at the photo I have got indents or "cuts" on my cheeks, this was created with Rigid Collodion which when dry, creats this effect! This is so easy to do, just borrow a dress and go crazy with the black makeup!
Finally, here is me as Natile Portman from The Black Swan film; this was last year. I borrowed the leotard and ballet shoes from a friend and added tights to get the ballerina look. My mum and I made a tut from black netting and the breast pieces that decorates the leotard was made by myself and then stitched to the leotard. We also made a tiara by just using a hot glue gun to make a latise out of the glue, sprayed black with jewls and then attached to a clip. To round it off I added dark feather inspired eye makeup and red contact lenses; I even won best dressed girl at my school social!
Borrowing cloths can be hard but necessary when you're skint. The perfect app for this is Fashionably Skint. It's easy to find clothes not just for costumes but for nights out too; ideal for students! Definitely get this app, you get to socialise with others at your uni or in your area and also get to have lots of choices of what to wear; sounds ideal to me ;)
